"And the time came when the risk it took to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." ~Anais Nin

History

Caryn graduated from Northwestern University as a Theatre major with a Bachelor's of Science in Speech. As an actress, her curiosity and creative exploration of the human character and emotion eventually translated to the study of psychology. She now holds a Master's in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on Child and Adolescent development, from Antioch University.

Caryn started her career as a psychotherapist with an internship at the Southern California Counseling Center, one of the few standing non-profit, non-government funded mental health clinics left in Los Angeles. There, Caryn worked with individuals, adolescents, children, families and couples as an Intern for over 5 years. She also facilitated a weekly group for women focused on self-empowerment and personal growth. Her work at SCCC continues now where she serves as a supervisor for interns beginning their work with clients in the field.

Services Offered

Therapy is not a process that is one-size fits all.  Each client deserves a treatment plan based on their own individual circumstances and need.

Often times, weekly sessions in office are what’s needed, while other times clients benefit from off-site, in-vivo therapy sessions.  Caryn has worked with clients outside of the office doing exposure therapy for phobias around exercise and panic disorders, as well as accompanying and working with teens with school aversive behaviors and anxiety. Her understanding and relatability to teenagers and young adults provides teens the environment necessary to thrive. Caryn utilizes unique and immersive techniques to work with each individual client. She has been asked to work in situation specific scenarios such as shadowing a mother and her two teenage daughters on an afternoon of shopping. Caryn worked to increase productive communication and encourage connection versus the explosive and uncomfortable experiences that had been reported.

Contact Caryn via phone or email to discuss what treatment plan might be best suited for you.
